The Fall of Erecura
The Fall of Erecura is a design for an RPG with a richly populated and realised game world. Designed to the brief of "Myths and Shadows", it explores concepts of Anthropology and the formation and differentiation of cultural groups, as the player must pick a side from four distinct cultures and learn about the game world through the lens of their chosen culture. Through the course of the narrative, the player is then revealed the truth behind the world they inhabit, and they can unravel how these cultures formed from this one shared truth.
Focussing on the wider game design, the aim of this project was not to build a prototype but to develop an unrestricted concept of a game. Taking fantasy tropes and turning them on their head, I hoped to breath new life into the fantasy role-playing genre and produce a novel game design.
